The brief is clear.
The price isn’t.
The hard part is not arithmetic. It is turning an incomplete brief into a defined commercial agreement.
A message every freelancer knows
“Hey, can you design a landing page for our startup? How much would it cost?”The easy part to ask
Before you can answer, you have to decide
- 1
Exactly what is included?
- 2
How many screens or deliverables?
- 3
How much time is required?
- 4
How many revisions?
- 5
Is the deadline unusually tight?
- 6
Who is the client?
- 7
What work is excluded?
- 8
What should the payment terms be?
Without a process
“Maybe ₹15,000?”
Illustrative. A guess with nothing behind it.

This moves the reference rate more than anything else on the page.
How soon do they need it?
Timeline changes the fee, never the hours.
A tight timeline adds 22% and a rush adds 50%, because it displaces other work. A normal timeline removes that entirely.

A number is easier to discuss
when you understand it.
The tool suggests. You decide. Three amounts, kept apart on purpose.
1 · Reference range
What the worksheet assumptions give for this work.
2 · Suggested fee
The calculated guidance. A starting point, not a verdict.
3 · Your final quote
Yours. Leave it empty and the suggested fee is used.

Quoting ₹72,000 would put you under your own costs
Not a reason to panic: it means this client type, at this experience band, cannot carry your overheads. Three things change that.
Real tool output for a sample project, with an example floor of ₹60,000 earnings, ₹15,000 costs and 80 billable hours a month. Reference rates are authored worksheet assumptions.
If they ask for less, three things can change
Same work, same hours, different client type.

- Small D2C brand₹72,000
- Funded startup₹97,000
- Established company₹1,15,000

Funded startup clears your floor. Small D2C brand does not.
Fewer hours, smaller fee. It does not close this gap on its own.
- As quoted84.6 h · ₹72,000
- Without developer handoff and build QA73.6 h · ₹63,000

I can cut scope and requote. As it stands, ₹10,500 covers 16.1 estimated hours and two rounds of revisions.
A suggested reply from the tool. It does not negotiate for you.
Not just a price.
A quotation that explains the work.

Questions freelancers ask first.
Are these live Indian market rates?
No. The reference rates are authored worksheet assumptions that give you an adjustable pricing reference. They are not surveyed or live market rates.
Can I change the suggested fee?
Yes. “What do you plan to quote?” is optional. Leave it empty and the suggested fee is used. Whatever you enter carries into the quotation and the payment milestones.
Is this only for UI/UX designers?
No. There are 16 deliverables across Web, Product, Brand and Collateral, from landing pages and app screens to logos, packaging and presentation slides.
Does it work with international clients?
International client is one of the six client contexts, and it has its own reference and payment schedule. The tool works in rupees.
Can I create a professional quotation?
Yes. It builds an A4 quotation with scope, exclusions, fee, payment milestones and terms, and you can copy it, download it as HTML, or print it to PDF.
Can I customise the quotation before sending it?
You can edit your name or business, the client, project title, reference, dates, delivery and client contact, add a note, and choose how GST is handled. Download the text or HTML to change anything else in your own editor.
Does the tool calculate GST?
Only if you tell it. Nothing is added unless you say you are registered and give a rate. Registration and transaction treatment are yours to confirm. It is not tax advice.
Does it create a legally reviewed contract?
No. The quotation is an editable commercial template. Review it before you send it, and take legal advice where you need it.
Is my project information uploaded to a server?
No. Your quotes are saved in this browser only, and nothing is sent anywhere.
Can I save or revisit quotations?
Yes, in the same browser. You can also download a backup file and restore it later. There is no cloud sync.
